Board Notes

  1. Planning and Planning and Building - we're recreating CREATE and mapping out a new strategic framework starting this month.

Highlights

  1. East Regional is sold out. HUGE thank you to Julie for securing a larger room. This will be the highest attended Regional since the pandemic. 
  2. The first three Coffee Connect were a giant success. 
  3. The first Ask a Payment Pro exceed expectations in terms of engagement, attendance, and quality.
  4. Pushback to the new dues has (so far) been minimal.

Major Initiatives

New Member Acquisition Task Force

Project Lead:
Lance Rich (B-Dir)

Overview & Scope: 
Acquire 50 new members via direct contacts in FY 2024/25.
Create a new procedure to hand off to a permanent committee.
Targets will be determined by the Task Force with the Board-approved Mission Statement as a guide.

Shared vision with Bank Consortium Committee as it relates to bullet one above- Will be following up the Committee Chair and members

5/29- Met with key APP Members (acquiring banks, vendors, consultants) to discuss new ways to extend the reach for new members and organizations. The top 3 ideas were to:

Continue focusing/partnering with acquiring banks with existing sponsored entities to encourage participation for new and existing ISO’s Investigate partnership with the regional events (starting with WSAA) to exhibit, present, or both
Use resources such as the Nilsson Report to identify smaller acquiring banks that may not be participating or aware of the benefits of APP

7/22: The Committee rolled out part one of new campaign project focused on highlighting the value of the Fraud Alerts System to coincide with the new membership dues. 
Anecdotally, the Membership committee reported seeing a higher variety of members using Alerts and overall increase forgetting the campaign starting. 

Major Projects:

Create a drip campaign for new members. This is a series of emails that are automatically sent out via Constant Contact using Novi rules.  This is an older doormat project that was picked up. 
The goal is to increase awareness, engagement, and purchases by new members. 

This is currently with Staff to develop and paused at the moment.

Regionals 
All Regional agendas are locked. 

Level Up 25 
The committee has an open call.  A couple of sessions have been tentatively picked so far

Major Projects:

"Ask a Payment Pro"
Proposed series of 30-minute sessions built around a very specific topic. Each session will include a Solution Provider, a Bank, and an ISO/MSP. 

6 Sessions have been scheduled started on August 21st.


CLE
A request came in to add CLE credits to programs from Robyn Mitchell via GR SIG. An exploratory meeting has been scheduled. A new project will be reliant on volunteers to lead. 

Education/M@Cademy

Updates are suspended while IMC and Committee build out a plan for next steps following the Board vote to suspend the project. 

Engagement

  2. There's been an increase in interactive meeting elements via Menti. 
  3. A digital volunteer badge (and Member one) is being created.

Coffee Connect
The first session had to be capped to keep the attendance from being too large. The 30-minute discussion went so well, the attendees asked to have another one that was an hour long. This is a potential SIG.

They are working on a plan to create 'grandparent' and 'parent ' organizations to solve the challenge of merging members.

7/21: AI Policy - Refined and updated the Operations Guide.
This included add language prohibiting AI notetakes as proxies in meetings. They are working an related AI policy for content creation. 

Vice Chair gaps – Governance would like to welcome any group (committee or otherwise) with an open vice chair position to consult with Governance to help strategize to fill the position

  • Benefits: Chair has a backup for meetings; collaboration on running the group is a shared capability; assists with succession planning

7/15: No new update. Last couple of meetings had very interactive guest speakers. 

Fraud SIG 

7/23: New "7 Things to Know About..." paper on EBT Fraud is complete. Expected to be published by the end of the month. 

Government Relations SIG

6/15: Recent newsletter on Surcharging had a 1/3rd higher average open rate than other publications. Ellen hosted a webinar to support. There are planned panels for the East and Midwest Regional. Also, they are hosting a SIG webinar in October.
